Build a website with AI for free,
in one evening

Content, generation, publishing, domain name: the step-by-step method, no coding.

A prospect asks for your website, and all you have is a LinkedIn profile or a half-finished page. Hiring an agency is expensive, and traditional website builders take hours of fiddling. The good news: you can now build a website with AI for free and have a professional about page or landing page live the same evening. This guide shows you the five-step method: write the content with AI, generate the page, publish it for free, connect your domain name, and avoid the mistakes that cost you clients.

Can you really build a website with AI for free?

Yes, as long as the goal is clearly defined. In one evening, with free tools, you can publish an entrepreneur's about page or landing page: who you are, what you offer, to whom, what your clients say, and how to contact you. That is what most entrepreneurs need to start with.

What stays free: writing the content, generating the page and hosting it. What costs money: a domain name in your own name (a few euros or dollars a year), and sometimes the tool's subscription if you want to connect that domain. A full website with an online shop, client area or booking system takes more work: that is not the topic of this guide.

What is the best tool to build a website with AI?

Three families of tools let you do it for free. Here are the benchmarks at the time of writing (September 2026); always check the current terms on each tool's website.

ToolWhat it doesFree versionFor your own domain
Claude or GeminiGenerates the code of a complete page from your descriptionYes, with usage limitsPage to host elsewhere (Netlify, for example)
LovableBuilds and publishes a site from a plain-language descriptionYes, 5 credits per day (30 per month), lovable.app addressPro plan, about $25 per month
BoltBuilds and hosts a site or a small appYes, daily token quota, Bolt branding on the sitePro plan, about $25 per month
FramerGenerates polished, design-oriented pagesYes, address on a Framer subdomainFrom about $10 per month
NetlifyHosts your page: drop the file and it is liveYes, custom domain and HTTPS includedIncluded in the free plan

Our recommendation for a first page: generate the page with your AI assistant and host it for free on Netlify. This combination lets you connect your own domain name without any subscription. If you prefer to do everything in one place, without handling files, Lovable is the easiest to learn. Our Lovable, Bolt, Cursor and Claude Code comparison details their differences, and our article Which AI should an entrepreneur choose? helps you pick your assistant.

Step 1: write your website content with AI

This is the most important step, and the most often overlooked. A beautiful page with vague copy does not convert. So start with the content, before any design.

Give your assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Mistral Vibe) the key facts about your business, then ask for a complete structure:

"I am a [job] and I help [type of clients] to [result]. My offers: [list, with prices if you show them]. My strengths: [3 points]. Write the content of an about page: a headline that states the client benefit, a subheadline, 3 benefits, a presentation of my offers, an 'about me' section, 3 frequently asked questions and a call to action to book a meeting. Professional tone, short sentences."

Then review each section critically. Ask for adjustments: "the headline is too vague, suggest 5 variations focused on the client's result", "cut the offers section in half". Add real client testimonials if you have them, never invented ones.

Step 2: generate the page

Option A: with Claude or Gemini

The free versions of Claude (with Artifacts) and Gemini (with Canvas) can produce a complete, ready-to-use web page in a single file. Paste your approved content and describe the style you want:

"From this content, create a complete web page in a single HTML file, with the styles built in. Clean, professional style, light background, main color [color], readable font, mobile-friendly. The booking button links to [your online calendar link]. No external dependencies except a Google Fonts font."

You see the preview right in the conversation. Ask for the corrections you need, then download the file and name it index.html.

Option B: with Lovable or Bolt

Create a free account, paste your content and the same style description. The tool generates the page, you edit it by chatting ("make the headline bigger", "add a testimonials section"), then you publish it in one click on an address provided by the tool. Keep an eye on your free quota: every change uses credits or tokens, which is why it pays to arrive with finished content.

AI Challenge

Your web page live the same evening

This is Mission 4 of the AI Challenge: in 30 guided minutes, you write and publish your about page with AI. Together with the 3 other missions, the goal is to save 5 hours a week, with no technical skills.

Step 3: publish your website for free

If you followed option B, your page is already live. With option A, publishing takes a few minutes with Netlify:

  1. Put your index.html file (and any visuals) in a folder on your computer.
  2. Go to Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop) and drag this folder onto it.
  3. Your page is live on a temporary address. Create a free account to keep it: without one, the deployment does not last.
  4. In the site settings, choose a readable name for the address provided by Netlify.
  5. Open the page on your phone and check every link and button.

To edit the page later, simply ask your assistant for the changes, download the new file and drop it again.

Step 4: connect your domain name

An address like "your-name.netlify.app" is fine for testing, but a domain name in your own name inspires more trust. You buy it from a registrar (OVHcloud, Gandi, Namecheap or others), often for less than 15 euros or dollars a year for a .com or a country domain. Be careful: the renewal price is often higher than the first-year price, so check it before buying.

To connect the domain, add it in your host's domain settings: it will tell you which records to create at your registrar. If these terms are unfamiliar, ask your AI assistant:

"I bought the domain [domain] from [registrar] and my page is hosted on Netlify. Explain step by step, screen by screen, how to connect the two, with HTTPS enabled."

It can take from a few minutes to a few hours to take effect. The HTTPS certificate (the padlock in the browser) is then enabled automatically by Netlify.

How to build a website with AI that attracts clients

A live page is only useful if it turns visitors into inquiries. A few simple principles:

  • One goal per page: book a meeting, request a quote or sign up. One main button, repeated.
  • The client benefit in the headline, not your job title.
  • Proof: real testimonials, examples of your work, client logos with their permission.
  • Professional visuals: a good-quality photo of yourself and a few consistent visuals. Our guide to creating visuals with AI helps you produce them.
  • A page title and a description that include your profession and your city if your clients are local: ask the AI for them, they matter for search rankings.

Going further: from website to web tool

Once your page is live, you can go much further with the same logic: a quote calculator, a client area, a small tool to sell. That is the principle of vibe coding: describe what you want and let AI build it. Our article on building a web app with AI shows what is possible, and our Vibe Coding AI Pro bootcamp helps you create your own web tool, without coding.

Mistakes to avoid

Forgetting the legal notice. In France, a professional website must display a legal notice (publisher's identity, contact details, host), and many countries have similar rules. If you collect data through a form, a privacy policy is also required. Have the AI write a first draft, then check it.

Publishing without reviewing. AI can invent a figure, a qualification or a testimonial. Review every sentence: your page is your credibility.

Neglecting mobile. Many of your visitors will arrive from a phone. Always test the page on mobile before sharing it.

Wanting a full website on the first evening. Start with one page that works, then improve it based on feedback.

Choosing a paid tool before testing. Free versions are enough for a first page. Pay only when a specific need requires it.

FAQ: building a website with AI for free

How do you build a website with AI without coding?

Write the content with an AI assistant, ask it to generate the page, then publish it on a free host such as Netlify, or use Lovable directly. You do not write a single line of code.

What is the best tool to build a website for free?

For an about page on your own domain without a subscription, Claude or Gemini combined with Netlify is the most economical. To do everything in one place, Lovable is the simplest.

Is a website built with AI really free?

Generation and hosting can be. The domain name still costs a few euros or dollars a year, and some tools require a subscription to connect your domain.

Does a website built with AI rank well on Google?

It can, provided it has clear, useful content, a suitable page title and description, and a page that loads fast on mobile. The tool matters less than the quality of the content.

How long does it take to build your page?

One evening is enough for an about page, if your content is ready. That is exactly Mission 4 of the AI Challenge, designed for entrepreneurs with no technical skills.
